my parents were right (and still are)
Years ago when my parents moved us to the DC area to be near my grandparents they chose to live south of the Mason-Dixon. They settled in Virginia, rather than Maryland, largely for the higher education options. They were on to something. The Princeton Review just ranked the “best value” universities and their alma mater, William & Mary, came in at number 3. Mine, the University of Virginia, came in at number one.
I might have fought them tooth and nail about going there–I wanted desperately to get out of the Commonwealth–but they were right. I got to graduate from a kick-ass school… and walk away without any debt.
Now if only the same would apply to grad school…
