my summer vacation day 2: around prospect park and back again.
For Day 2, I tried my hand feet at running the 3 mile loop at Prospect Park. The bad news is that my iPod ran out of juice 10 minutes in, but the good news is that I finished the run which must have been the longest I’ve ran at once in years.

Post-run I joined my brother in midtown for a salad amongst the worker bees of Manhattan. He happens to work in the thick of it, just across from the MoMa (and the MoMa design store… hello Muji!) and a couple of blocks away from the Nintendo store. I’ve totally gotten sucked in to the Wii Fit marking bonaza and couldn’t wait to jump on and fail miserably at virtual skiing.

Leah joined me later in the afternoon and we laid amongst the relaxed beautiful people in Bryant Park, attempting to use the flaky free wifi and soaking up the sun amidst the skyscrapers.

Props to the folks at Bryant Park who manage to put on a whole host of free activities including this yoga class which we had no idea would attract such a crowd.
After goofing off in midtown some more, Leah and I met up with her Cousin on the last car of the R and headed back to the other borough for Celebrate Brooklyn a free outdoor concert in Prospect Park. We went to grab dinner at a little place called Second Helpings… apparently this wasn’t an original idea.
After listening to some experimental jazz and half-jokingly proclaiming that “I like music with lyrics” we capped off our evening with a beer at Ginger’s and nice summer night walk home through Park Slope, where Leah pointed out all the places from her childhood… including the speech therapist who taught her how to say her last name.
