i’m going to grad school
A couple of weeks ago I had on of my happiest days… finding out I was accepted into graduate school just before Leah and I went to our favorite restaurant to celebrate our new apartment and one year together.

Here’s my signed letter of intent… I love the big GRADUATE stamp on the side of the envelope.
Over this past weekend I attended BBQ at CCA for prospective and current graduate students. I only met a few of my future classmates but it was envigorating to be back on a campus, surrounded by hordes of creative folks. I also really enjoyed wandering around buildings, getting a feel for the atmosphere, checking out the projects scattered through the studios and the event flyers posted on the walls. Feeling shy, and afraid to out myself as a guest, I took only a few photos when no one was looking.

One of the reasons I’ve wanted to get back to school is the community of learning that revolves around classwork. CCA has an impressive slate of lectures and events happening almost every night, most of which seem to be free and open to the public. Next week, I’m hoping to check out Judith Butler, who is currently writing about Jewish philosophy and “pre-Zionist criticisms of state violence.” (Side note… Not sure how I missed that she was at Berkeley.)
If you are in town, feel free to join me for some Butler, hopefully the first of many CCA lectures.
