uniter vs commander.

a quick tidbit from the nytimes liveblogging of super tuesday:

Asked which candidate they thought was most qualified to be commander-in-chief, regardless of whom they were voting for, voters in every state except two (Georgia and Illinois) picked Mrs. Clinton.

At the same time, they were asked who would be most likely to unite the country. Voters in every state except Tennessee picked Mr. Obama.

How to explain the holdout states in each case? Not totally sure, but Georgia, with its large black population, and Illinois, which is Mr. Obama’s home turf, are very strong for Mr. Obama, while Tennessee is big on Mrs. Clinton (she poured a ton of ads into Tennessee). It could be that voters in those states just wanted to support the candidate they liked.
