the one hour analysis
So Hillary *just* won New Hampshire… and the commentary and analysis will run for days and weeks. Here are my one hour thoughts:
a. Iowa does not equal New Hampshire.
b. Hillary has a really deep, traditional politcal machine that turned out today.
c. She’s forging a new public identity and learning to merge “feminity” with strength and electibility. She’s paving new ground Smartest thing she’s said yet on the campaign: “Over the last week, I listened to you, and in the process I found my own voice.” No doubt that moment will prove to be as historical as Obama’s victory speech last week.
Tonight my brother made an interesting point, that he felt excited that it seemed her campaign was finally letting her be herself, ending the tireless micromanaging and allowing the “true” Hillary to shine. That was before she talked about finding her voice.
I still think back to my 2003 drive across country when I listened to her reading of “Living History.” She’s an amazing woman. And she and Barack Obama are creating a captivating primary season. So much so that I’m rethinking my choice not to have a TV at home. The political junkie in me is dying for some CNN.
UPDATE: Despite my consumerist desires to have a flat screen to watch this talking head fest, I have to give a shout out for KQED and NPR for doing outstanding coverage. Thank you.
