writers on strike! day 25.

we are now on day 25 of the writer’s strike and i’ve filed compiled long overdue and very long strike post…here’s my favorite quick simple explanation of the conflict in nine words:studios don’t want to compensate writers for digital distribution.and in video:

we are only three weeks in, and the last strike in 1988 went for 22 weeks… but that strike didn’t have the internet. so while we will soon be out of original programming on network TV, there’s plenty of fresh new activisty material online. that seems to be the only good thing coming out of the strike. actors and writers working happily together in a unified cause against their producers. while i’d much rather the AMPTP pull it together figure out how to compensate appropriately, i am definitely enjoying the digital creative fallout…seriously, watching the strike is better than watching any network drama. you’ve got all your favorite “celebrity”:http://www.flickr.com/photos/13619279@N06/2023924203/ “cameos”:http://www.flickr.com/photos/13619279@N06/2051175791/. “big rich mogul villains”:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F28kCLTd_Dk. “witty banter”:http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/11/fashion/11strike.html?fta=y. “benefit”:http://laist.com/2007/11/21/alicia_keys.php “performances”:http://laist.com/2007/11/14/kt_strike.php. “visits from presidential candidates”:http://laist.com/2007/11/18/photo_essay_joh.php. if only everyone’s crews weren’t out of work during the holidays. save some lucky production staff from a few show’s like Late Night, “who’s paychecks are being picked up by their hosts”:http://deadlinehollywooddaily.com/ (in this case Conan O’Brien.)anyhow, here’s a compilation of some of my favorite spots from United Hollywoods’ “Speechless Without Writers”:http://speechlesswithoutwriters.com/ campaign. you can watch more on their “brightcove channel”:http://www.brightcove.tv/channel.jsp?channel=1321270825 or from the “source itself”:http://unitedhollywood.blogspot.com/.i swear… everything she does is amazing.give these women some oscars…and because i never miss a chance to post susan sarandon on here…here’s the Huffington Post coverage of the WGA-East rally in Washington Square Park:
