The Yellow Ribbon Magnet
When I went back East to visit my family I was stunned by the number of yellow ribbon magnets on the cars driving around Virginia and DC. They seemed to be everywhere. Back here in the Bay Area… they are quite scarce. In fact, it wasn’t until this past weekend until I saw one, and then another.
Kelly noticed the same thing when she went back to NYC, they seemed to be everywhere.
Apparently we aren’t the only ones noticing the magnets, or lack of magnets, in different areas. Morning Edition covered a story just this morning on the yellow magnets.
What is especially interesting is that there seems to be some debate over what exactly the meaning is behind the magnets. An idealistic entrepreneur has decided to make the message clearer with a new line of blue magnets to “Bring Home Our Troops.” It will be interesting to see if any of these turn up on cars.
